My daughter had an intermittent AC problem in her 2004 Nissan Maxima. For awhile it would cool off and on then it just quit working. One shop said her ac clutch was out and he wanted $1200. I had an OBD II scanner and it gave me the U1000 code and a sevice engine soon light.
Could this code mean we have an electrical problem and the ECM and CAN are not transmitting to the IPDM to turn on the AC clutch? If so, how can I fix it? I cant seem to get any power to the AC clutch or in the IPDM on the black/yellow wire to the clutch. I was told it was the ac clutch wire in the E124 module where the integrated AC relay is at.
Thank you and please reply ASAP,
Terrence Woolf
You will have the first have to fix the U1000 code before doing anything else.
the first thing to do is lossen all the ground connecters clean them with sand paper on the connector and body and retighen the bolts back
There will be a few by the engine bay and will look like this lossen all the ground connecters clean them with sand paper on the connector and body and retighen the bolts back
here is the service bulletin from nissan

You can also add a grounding kit to help the factory grounds since the factory grounds are thin and can lose connecting since you can rust and or have corrosion.
