Misfire number 8 cylinder, When dealing with a Chevy motor and the ECM identifies a misfire at number 8 cylinder, the most common is that the ECM does not identify the misfire cylinder properly. It good at knowing what Bank the misfire is coming from but not exactly what cylinder it is at.  With the code cleared and engine running create a misfire by disconnecting one of the coil and see what cylinder  the ECM identifies.Usually if number 8 cyclinder is identified as the misfire it really the number 2 cylinder. The worst case scenerio is mechanical condition where a hairline crack is what is causing the misfire, which occurs between the intake valve and the exhaust valve and only a leak down test can find it
