P1309 Misfire detection minitor is not enabled

Removing the catalytic will not cause P1309. What you can and will code is a EGR back pressure code. The moment you start the vehicle the misfire monitor are run when the engine starts, During the start up peroid the crank and cam are not synchronized it randomly fires the ignition and the fuel injector are randomly fire until the engine catches once it catches the the cam and crank syncronizes, all within 100 ms. With just a straight pipe you just will code a EGR no flow. This code condition is more of a electrical problem with the cam sensor.Depending on the type of cam sensor if this is a hall effect type it is out of adjustment.
