car failed NJ state inspection for engine lite on codes P1400 & P1441 what should i be checking??

2 different areas of concern here. First, the P1400 is referring to an issue with the egr. This could either be the egr solenoid, the egr valve or the tube to the egr valve is blocked.

Second code, P1441 is an evap issue. This could be the result of several items on the evap system. Best method here is to have a smoke test done and check for leaks, then work through the solenoids if there aren't any leaks. It's kind of a catch all code for the evap system.
