how do i reset code P0442 on a bmw

I have a 1998 BMW M3, failed inspection for code P0442, replaced gas cap with new BMW cap, want to reset code to see if that is the problem, or if I have a lead somewhere.

Most auto repair shop will clear the code light without charge even auto part store who can check code can  alsp clear code condition. Once this code is cleared the , the monitor will have to be set for the inspection,
