location of temperature sensor on 2005 isuzu ascender 6 cylinder

there is no indication of thermostat sticking or being faulty, is changing this sensor common ? i was told by a mechanic that this particular sensor was located on back side of intake, i have been unable to locate it on intake but do see one on the block, is this the correct sensor ?
