I have a 1997 Chevy Malibu with 3.1 engine. For years when the fresh air recirculate button light goes out, I lose all HVAC controls and power windows. I took the car to the dealership for diagnosis. Recommendation upon bcm code b1379 was to replace the ignition switch and retensioning wiring. I have car friends who can do the work if we know the correct parts to order. What is retensioning wiring? Is it the wiring harness?
B1379 Ignition 3 - This code set when ignition 3 input is not active and ignition 1 is active for 20 seconds
The reason they mention retension wiring is to rule out poor connections at the body function controller which is why the HVAC and power window are non op. This may have to go a step further where the Body function controller is replaced. The location is under the dash where the blower motor is at.
