P0430 Toyota - avensis verso

Question

Dear all,

On km 150.000 I replaced the catalic convertor (type plate nmbr.28041) of my 2002-Avensis Verso 2.0 VVTi, because of code P0430. I did NOT update the ECU from version 89661-44261 to 89661- 44262 because of the minor engine control boundries update.
The 4-gas measurement check for the yearly approval is perfect so no need to update for that reason.

Now on km 235.000 again code P0430 appears in the dashboard screen and confuses me because this unit lasted for half the life time although its from original manufacturer.

Questions: does this mean that the CPU update is needless?
Is there a quality boundary of 50% on Km life time for these expensive parts?
