Have a 1996 Honda Accord. Initially got a P0303 code. Changed plugs and wires, checked distributor cap and rotor, and CEL came back on. When full acceleration or cruising on freeway runs great. When letting off of accelerator coming to stop sign the engine misses. Cleaned EGR valve, and eventually replaced EGR vlave, but still same problem. However, when disconnected vacuum to EGR vlave no more miss, but the CEL still came back on indicating EGR valve issue. Any suggestions on what to do next? Need to get this car inspected!!

P1399 Random misfire

The EGR valve is controlled by the EGR solenoid, When the misfire occurs , disconnect the EGR and check to see if it is getting a vacuum as it should not be when at idle if it is the EGR solenoid is sticking.
