2004 Mazda MPV 3.0L with engine code P0118, how do I repair this?

This code is for the engine coolant temp sensor. Most of the time the sensor itself is the problem. However, if the car is low on coolant, has an overheating issue or the thermostat is sticking, you can still get this code. Normally though, the sensor itself is the issue.
