2002 Ford Ranger 4.0L SOHC with engine code P0340. I replaced the camshaft position sensor for code P0340, and the code still comes up what next?
P0340 Camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction
On this type of engine there are 2 different type of cam position sensor there is a vane driven by the camshaft and there is the magnetic pulse generator. If this is a magnetic pulse generator you have 2 sensor one on each side of the cylinder head.If this is a cam driven sensor and the installation is not correct you will code a lean bank 1 and a lean bank 2. To code a P0340 after installation one of two event happens the engine does not start up right away, or the engine starts up and P0340 codes check the connection to this sensor the PCM does not see it.look at the mating connection on one side of the terminal is B+ (battery voltage) the other is the signal wire for the PCM
