cam position sensor replaced twice and check engine light comes back

Question

When the check engine light comes on there is a slight shudder in the car and then is starts to skip and buck severley. Some times is will seem to run OK but the light stays on. When the signal is cleared the car will run OK for up to several days but eventually the light comes back on and it starts bucking. Generally if I pulll over and shut the ingition off and restart the car the bucking stops but the light stays on. If I drive it any disstance....a mile or so ...the bucking returns. The cam position sensor has been replaced....twice. Any ides would be greatly appreciated.........harness short? bad computer?
