My 2009 Saturn Aura XE has code p0128. Temp gauge and a/c not working. What is the solution?

Question

The temp gauge (just hot/ cold for engine) and a/c were working just fine yesterday, so this is a new problem. The car has over 100k miles.

Hi there,

This code is for the coolant temp sensor. If the temp sensor has failed it could cause the gauge to stop reading. It can also cause the cooling fans to stop working which in turn could take the air conditioning out becuase the pressure of the freon would become high and the pressure switch will turn off the compressor.
