I received a constant "check engine icon" light and Engine Code P2609 diagnostic after a recent start of my 2005 Dodge Ram Diesel 2500. This is the second time this issue has occurred. The first time, I took it to an Autozone store for a free diagnostic check. The code P2609 - Air Intake Heater Performance was indicated. On my way (approx. 2 weeks later) to a Dodge dealership for additional analysis, the engine light went out on it's own! A complete dealer diagnostic was performed at that time with no problems noted (other than the $90 dealer diagnostic fee I had to pay!) Other than the engine light being illuminated, the truck performance has not been impacted. Any suggestions?

You might have a bad intake air heater or the relay might be bad or the connection.

See diagnostic procedures for P2609 below and Instruction to remove intake air heater.
