1998 Toyota Camry with engine code P0401. Check Engine Light comes on after 50 miles driven. Used vacuum pump to actuate the EGR Valve. Valve does move W/O any issues. The engine does stumble when the Vacuum pump is used. A check of Vacuum from the engine does show at least "5" inches of Vacuum when the throttle is moved.

Any Help would be Greatly Appreciated. My Best.. Brian...

Hi there,

Check the tube going to the egr valve. If it's plugged up you won't get any egr and this wil cause the code. This is something that is common on older models. When you make the egr valve open with the engine running, it should stumble and want to stall as well. If it doesn't then the tube is likely blocked.
