P1259 Acura TL 1999 w/145k mi sounds like a rod brng failing at startup quickly quites,

Driver says oil lite came on breifly during acceleration . Sounds awfull at startup

P1259 Acura - VTEC System Malfunction

Have you checked the oil level? either the oil is low or dirty. 

if its dirty (it can clog the vtec valve) you wont have oil pressure. 

replace the oil and filter and maybe remove the vtec valve and clean it.

if it is still knocking the engine is already damaged.

Possible causes

- Low engine oil pressure or level

- Open or short circuit condition

- Faulty VTEC oil pressure switch

- Faulty VTEC solenoid
