P0172 1999 Ford F150 - can this cause heavy stumbling and hesitation

the easiest things you can do to remove the easy possible causes is; you can clean the mass air flow sensor with mass air flow sensor cleaner, check for intake leaks (intake gasket is a common problem as well as broken, cracked or loose hoses) if the spark plugs have not been changed you should replace them.
