I failed inspection in NJ for my check engine light being on and for 3 emission OBD11 codes:
P0102, P0171, P0300. Days later, a friend of mine cleaned the mass air flow sensor and turned got the check engine light to go off and tested for OBDll codes and it checked out ok.
He said I had to drive about 50 miles to recycle the codes to pass inspecting. I drove at least 50 miles and when I went for reinspection, they told me the OBDll codes were not reset. My friend said there was a special process to go through. Is this true? Can you tell me the process if so>? The care is a 2005 Chevy Impala 3.4 engine.

I would try to drive at 60mph on the freeway for at least 10-15 miles. than regular road driving at 35mph for another 10 miles or so. Most cars are ready for smog testing with those steps
