P0087 Fuel rail pressure sensor too low

There is 2 possible cause for this code condition the FRP (fuel rail pressure) is not reporting the correct rail pressure or there is low fuel pressure. The way the rail pressure works it uses engine load and demands and give fuel pressure accordly, If P0193 is also coded with P0087 just replace the rail sensor, If P0087 is the only code check the fuel line for any bends that can cause restriction , P0087 will not cause black smoke it will cause it to bogg down. As for the black smoke the fuel injector at one time had a Recall for it so did the glow plugs, and the ECM upgrade
