I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima that is having a hard time starting. It shows codes P1402 and P0443. I have changed the max air flow sensor, starter, fuel pump, plugs, fuel filter, battery, cables to battery, and air filter, all within the last week and a half. We reset the codes after the mechanic changed the fuel pump today and he said I was good to go. Well, codes popped back on and I still had a hard time getting the car to start. Any advice, suggestions, or do I need to get a bigger hammer?

The P1402 means that there is a problem with the EGR system. The parts you replaced have nothing to do with the EGR system. You should start by cleaning the EGR valve.

The P0443 is for the EVAP system.

The EVAP system should not cause the hard start problem, but the EGR valve may cause that problem.
