What will happen if I remove the honeycomb from the catalytic converter?

I have a Subaru Legacy that continues to throw a P0420 code. I was told that if I remove the honeycomb from the catalytic converter that the code will go away.

No dont do that, the light will never go away. the best thing that will help is install a oxygen sensor non fouler. They are less than $10.
