My 2005 Focus with the 2.0L engine has been throwing the P0192 code for some time now. It originally said it could be the filter, the fuel rail, the fuel rail pressure sensor or the fuel pump. I replaced the fuel filter but still does it. The car recently started acting like it wanted to die while accelerating but then would come back to life in a surge. It made me think maybe the pump was going out. However, I know that the fuel rail pressure sensor may also be malfunctioning and sending bad info to the PCM and pump. What is most likely the cause of the problem, the pump or the fuel rail pressure sensor? THanks

P0192 Fuel rail pressure sensor

As a rule of thumb whenever a rail pressure code appears , it is useless to do a fuel pressure test. The way this works is the engine management take a load calculation and gives fuel as necessary by applying voltage to the fuel pump to increase fuel pressure as needed. This is always a rail pressure failure.
