can any one tell me if i can just replace the shift solonoid pack in my daughters car or if it needs a new transmission . i was an automotuve tech for 23 years but because of the economy and where i live i had to take a factory job doing maintenance and i no longer have a scan tool or the opportunity to use all data or mitchel on demand . i would appreciatew any positve feed back

is the transmission shifting hard? I would drain the transmission fluid or drop the pan and see if there are metal pieces inside the transmission pan.

if its shifting hard and there is metal pieces inside that means the transmission is damaged and should be replaced (rebuilting is not worth it and many people still have problem after rebuilt)

you can replace the shift solonoid pack (see picture below how to do so)

if the transmission is bad and you are going to replace the transmission remember to flush the transmission lines so you dont get metal inside the new transmission
