P0014 GMC - Would low oil cause this code?

I got DTC P0014 and noted that I had very low oil. Also, my vehicle sounded like a diesel. I turned out the light and added oil which seemed to alleviate the problem - does this make sense?

Yes low oil will cause this problem.
