i have a 1998 z28, ls1, with an ls6 intake. i recently converted from the stock 4spd auto, to a t-56 6spd. on the first ride, their was an obvious miss. this was confirmed by the P0308 code.
i've tried a new plug wire, new plug ( original plug looked clean, electrode sandy brown color, no appearance of fouling ), swapped coil packs, & fuel injectors ( all one at a time ). all resulted in a P0308 code. the mileage has fallen off too. you can feel the miss at idle, ( consistant miss, not random ),but smooths out somewhat as the rev's climb. power has also fallen off too.
i do not hear any tapping or ticking noise ( i.e. lifter, pushrod ). when i had the computer reprogrammed ( for tranny conversion ), the #8 cylinder was running noticebly richer than the other cylinders ( shown on the HP tuners program ). after that, used a thermal laser scanner on the headers. #8 was about 150º, the balance ranged 250º - 350º.
will do a compression check to see what that might expose.
i'm also going to check the wiring for #8 fuel injector. when taking out the tranny dipstick tube ( which runs right over the #8 fuel injector ), during the insuing wrestling match, may have clipped the wiring of the injector ( fingers crossed that's it! ).
otherwise, not sure what else to look for.
thanks, chris

P0308 is a misfire code either related to spark, fuel or air leak.

if you think the injector wiring might be bad, check the voltage meter and compare the number to a different injector.
