P0342 Camshaft position  sensor circuit low input

Reason for DTC: Engine running and the RPM is less than 4000 RPM, th cam sinal is stuck low ,when the signal should be high

Realted causes, Excessive cranking without a start will cause code such as intermittent crank sensor or fuel pump producing low volume / pressure.

Diagnosis area : Even if the cam sensor produces a low to no signal the engine should still start, the PCM looks for circuits that open or shorts and rationality,

With this code being camshaft sensor low input, this code determines that the cam sensor cannot produce the required signal that the PCM can see or use, so you code P0342,a replacement of this sensor is required, When it is in Mode $10 this means the code has been cleared and now it is in the PCM history, No scan tool can clear DTC in $10. What clears this is a correction that the PCM requires which may be up to 40 ignition start ups. Or a drive cycle where the criteria is met, there the PCM will clear it.
