I have an engine code of p0420 and eac fail and i lose power

hi i have an 04 ford fusion, the management light came on and the code was p0420 which i know is the cat but now i'm getting eac fail sign come up i can't accelorate, the car loses power and the engine cuts out, are the two things connected? i turn the engine off, start up again and its fine for a little while. please help.

Hi there,

It is very possible the catalytic is causing the issues with the way the car runs. As it heats up it might be blocking the exhaust flow, this in turn will cause the car to run rough and eventually have no power. I would have the converter issue resolved, then take it from there.
