02 ranger has p0460 code runs erratic at higher rpms and fuel guage is erractic as well

This code is actually for the fuel sending unit circuit. This could explain the fuel gauge not working properly but generally won't explain the issue with the poor quality of running. It is possible the truck could use a tune up or fuel filter.
