WHAT IS A P1717 CODE?

I HAVE A 2007 ACURA RDX AND IT HAS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE CODE THAT IT READS IS P1717. ALSO THE LIGHT TURNS ON AND OFF FROM TIME TO TIME.

A bad battery maybe cause P1717 error message.

its also possible the Gear Range Switch is not reading correctly (shift position indicator switch part that tells the computer which gear ( P, R ,D N)

have you spilled anything near the shifter coffee, water....?
