P0171 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme

Question

I have a 96 olds cutlass 2 door with a 3.4l engine just yesturday I tried driving to oreillys to get a fuse and on the way the car died on me 3 times. Only when at a stop n when no gas was applied. The engine doesnt die when the brakes pushed in. the rpms will rise to 1500 then to 1000 and and baxk n then die. Ive changed the MAF sensor and that didnt help. There were 2 codes rhat came up on the obd2 1 was for the maf sensor n the other was P0171 code. Any ideas what it could be without me replacing every sensor

It's possible the maf sensor you replaced it with is no good. It's a fairly common issue. However, check for intake manifold leaks and low fuel pressure. These will also give you the P0171 lean fuel mixture codes as well.
