P1299 Ford - 2005 f-150 4.2 got code, emgine not overheating but going into limp mode

Question

my 2005 f-150 is showing a p1299 code, the check engine light is on, thewre is no indication of cooling system overheating, the temp guage pegs but as soon as I shut down engine and restart it the guage returns to normal
