Do i have to reset a P0440 code or will it reset itself?

DOdge Durango 2002: P0440 code - Evap system. If loose gas cap is tightened, will the check engine light go out (eventually) or does it need to be reset by disconnecting the battery?>

The light will eventually go out by it self, but there is no way to know how log will it take.
