I have a 2002 Chrysler 300M. The RPM's (3500rmp @ 45mph) are running high guessing it is stuck in 2nd gear. Took to dealer for diagnostic. Was told I need Low Reverse Shift Solenoid replaced at cost of $650 for parts & labor. Dealer stated wiring is ok, but concerned they didn't even check this. Wouldn't they have to remove the transmission pan to get to and see all the wiring connected to the solenoid (which I know they did not do), or are there other wires somewhere else that could be the cause which are more accessible? I just have read so many posts of people replacing the solenoid and that does not fix the problem. I asked them what if that didn't fit and was told "well we have to change the solenoid first and recheck CEL and then go from there to fix any other issues". Isn't it normal to work from the smallest possible cause up to the larger more expensive fixes rather than the other way around. So his comment had me concerned. I have a little mechanical knowledge so was wondering if there are some things I can check (without having to remove a bunch of parts) myself? I did check Tranny fluid from the stick and level is ok and looks clean.

Also a note I did just have a Hub replaced on my drivers side front tire. Didn't drive my car more than 60 miles when this other problem started. Not saying tampering I just know when working on cars it very easy to may knock a wire loose etc. so wondering if when Hub replaced is there any components or wires in that area that would be connect to or affect the solenoid. Somewhere maybe for me to start looking.

Any HELP much appreciated.

P0750 LR solenoid circuit

This has nothing to do with replacing the front hub ,Before you access the LR solenoid you test for the transmission control relay in doing so you can be sure the PCM is not at fault. The first inspection is note any other transmission code that are with P0750, If none are present you test the transmission relay control output use a 12 volt test light and test the relay output for power ,The LR solenoid is very sensitive and has a tendency to always get plugged up, It is very important to change transmission fluid with transmission filter, If you do decide to replace the LR solenoid make it a hobby.
