P0715 Turbine shaft speed (TSS) sensor- circuit malfunction

You have a problem that you describe more of being mechanical rather than the elctrohydraulic control unit and a electrical unit, you will have a better resolve with the dealer

You have a problem that you describe more of being mechanical rather than the elctrohydraulic control unit and a electrical unit, you will have a better resolve with the dealer

I am the guy who pulled the transmission out of a 2005 Sprinter after reading many threads of how to clean elctrohydraulic control unit and replace trans fluid, if still have problem change elctrohydraulic control unit, so it wasn't left at the dealer 1 hr drive.
Which I did, when it still limp mode. Pulled, disabled and cleaned every part of trans. Pulling pan only changes 4 Qts. of fluid.
---Hint----
--- do not want to take unit to dealer own 3 sprinters have never vested the dealer and came away under 1000.00.
? 1- Must I take to dealer to un lock. Please Add if and when I find the real problem will unit clear limp mode.
? 2 - is there something else to check?

"You have a problem that you describe more of being mechanical rather than the elctrohydraulic control unit"
--- do you have maybe some mechanical rather than the elctrohydraulic control unit tips I may try.
Thanks Jim

Hello Jim first of all good job in doing your transmission, I will help you out no matter how long it take, lets go all the way and put your vehicle on the road,You ask how this site works I came across it browsing engine code definitions and found this site Its all volunteer, And I enjoy helping people I love being in the automotive repair industry, Now to the sprinter, First of all the code P0715 is a code that the Sprinter does not use at all, When a code appear it is matched to what scantool you have this does not mean you don't have a problem it just match to whatever definition the tool holds. What component you have that will put you in limp mode are input sensor 1, input sensor 2 and a electronic control unit, The input speed sensor are hall effect switches if these sensor are faulty you will limp mode, these sensor calculate the gear range,It is the job of the TCM which continuously looks for electrical problem and mechanical problem and when the TCM store some of these code it causes the transmission to go into limp mode.or a default mode.Right now there is only limp mode, If you have a shift solenoid problem you will get from the TCM a loss of drive in other word it will place the transmission in neutral, Lets start this repair simple and stay in contact , Go to the engine junction fuse box there you should see on the fuse cover transmission relay and the fuse for it , might be fuse #2 which is a 10 amp, make sure it has power and it is not opened, when you turn the key on the transmission relay should click, this is a good indication of power, lets check this first

The most common failure with the sprinter is a loss of power of the TCM , I also want you to go to the TCM which is under the driver seat , and you will need to report the condition of the transmission connector at the transmission , give me detail if there is transmission seapage

Thank for your kind response. Yes fuse is good 12v with key on, just rechecked. Its 2:55 am here in Fl. Headed to find sand man.
I see its 8:55 at the Mercedes plant Germany
Thank you

When you get P0715 again this is not a MBZ code, what it is is a rational code, When a TCM codes a turbine sensor code, it is mainly saying I do not see and input speed , or the proper power to do the job that it is designed to do, You are going to troubleshoot for the loss of power, By the way Jim stay on this page, I responded to the other post you sent use that diagram there

TCM very clean disconnected plug very clean no oil as I have read about brown goop abt 8" away think was drink, have two 2005 sprinters if we need to change parts.
Thanks Jim

With P0715 code you will not need to change parts, at the transmission , there is a guide bushing look in it make sure the pins in there are not pushed in , what we are looking for is a loss of power to the transmission, this is either going to be from the TCM or at the transmission, so being in Florida we want to make sure power is getting to the transmission,at the connector to the transmission, with the  measure the voltage, at the TCM relay ,

We will be trouble shooting at the transmission, Leave the TCM alone, You are going to make a tool, in the engine fuse junction box get to the TCM relay, take the cover off and expose it working component , use a small screw driver to remove the cover.

1(so being in Florida we want to make sure power is getting to the transmission) Don't know what Florida has to do with trans. except it hot that's why its taken 10 day to get back to you, I am a Technician / own of a A/C co.
2(there is a guide bushing look in it make sure the pins) not sure what your saying here.
3(TCM / Trans. Voltage) what are we looking for, wiring diagram might help.
4(Leave the TCM alone, You are going to make a tool) I am making a tool ? ok

Removed the connector at trans, pins looks good
Thanks

Have not received correspondence from last questions think I have found TCM marked 5WP2 0005FV, Relays are # 1 through 6. are there pin #s or wire color you want me to test for voltage? Can I get a wiring diagram.
