2003 Pontiac Grand Am 2.2L drove to coffee shop, 10 minutes later went to leave the car would not start. my code reader returned a P1138 code, fuel level was 1/4 tank the car completed a road trip the day before all other thing appear to be in good shape. battery is less than a year old, it turns over just fine and strong but will not fire. The fuel rail is getting fuel. I am out of free options but before buy parts i need to know if the #2 O2 senor is bad will that prevent the engine from starting.

No, a bad O2 sensor shouldn't stop the engine to start. The rear O2 sensor is for emissions only.
