The battery was unhooked. Know the check engine light is on. I have a code showing P0506. How do I adjust the idle setpoint, or should I replace the sensor? If so to the sensor. Where is it located?

There is no sensor. The code means that the idle is lower than expected. Disconnect the car battery again to clear the code, then try driving your Explorer for about 30 minutes, the idle should adjust itself. If the problem, persists you may have to clean the throttle body and then drive it for another 10-30 minutes. Make sure you disconnect the car battery when cleaning the throttle body. If the code still comes back, you may have to replace the throttle body.
