Question

I have a 2009 dodge jouney with a 3.5L I just put a K&N air filter in it hoping to save some fuel and now the engine light is on and I have codes P0420 and P0430 could it be the air filter? or do I have another problem?

P0420 and P0430 Catalyst insufficient bank 1 and 2

The K & N filter will not cause P0420 and P0430, You need to reflash the PCM with a new software, Before the reflashing of the PCM can happen the dealer has to make sure the engine management is in proper order,

Thanks for the info ..should I leave the K&N filter in for the reflash? or reinstall the factory filter...would the reflash fix other problems with this vehicle cause I have ignition problems sometimes vehicle wont fire on the first cycle of the key but fires on the second cycle   Thanks again!!

This information was from a TSB (technical service bulletin) number 18-026-09, Engine control-Mil on / DTC P0420 /P0430 set, Also with the ignition problem give the dealer the VIN and see if PCM recall number NHTSSA08V528000 applies to you.
