P0011 detection recently but light went off. Smokes upon starting and sluggish in low gears.

Question

My car spews out smoke when starting it up and is a little sluggish in low gears. My "check engine light" came on recently and I hooked up a OBD computer to it and got the P0011 code. The light went off. I also recently changed the oil to help combat the problem. Any initial ideas as to what the problem might be?

Hi there,

Sometimes the issue with this code is caused by the phase sensor for the cam timing. This is basically the cam position sensor. If the sensor isn't the issue, then the next step is the IVT solenoid or the actual mechanical timing could be off as well.
