two flashes from the airbag light, what does this mean?

My airbag light came on suddenly after having the car for 2 years. When in diagnostic mode it flashes once, pause, then another flash, what does this mean?

The best way to find out what the problem is with a scanner, flash count is not very reliable. Some auto-part stores or independent shops will check the air bag light code for for free.
