F150 4.2 auto 4x4 P0340 replace cam syncro and sensor. used proper cam sycro tool @ TDC on compression stroke. Had trans harness fall onto xhaust manifold and burn up insulation on about 10 wires. rewired trans harness and checked out all connectors good continuity. replaced crank sensor. replaced output shaft sensor after P0720 code came up. check fuel harness found no opens or shorts. Cam sensor checks out good. Took to Ford dealer and they wanted $500 just to check cam sycro timing.
ANY IDEAS PLEASE!

P0340 Camshaft position sensor circuit  malfunction

Does the engine start? If the vehicle will not start P0340 is not at fault, you will have to check for why the vehicle will not start, the fuel pressure and spark will have to be inspected. If you repaired 10 wires and had P0720 (output speed sensor) You will now need to go to the engine fuse box, and inspect fuse 23 and 30 replace them if they are open, Do a wiggle test on the PCM relay , if fact in a case of no start turn key on you should hear fuel pump go on and some relay click on, If they don't with key on wiggle some of the relays,

Thank you for your reply, but Yes the engine starts right up and runs fine until it warms up.

Standing in front of the vehicle the number 1 cylinder is the closet to you.The tool you need to use is 303-562(T96T-12200-A), There is no rolling idle or any idle surge when the vehicle warms up?
