Hello,

I have toyota camry 1999 4 cylinders, 2.2; Today, I was driving on the highway, and my engine started to emit smoke. Then, the car died, and I noticed that temperature went up. Then, I have waited for 40 minutes, and I tried to start the engine again, but it did not work. I think that something went wrong because of air conditioner, I have not used it since I bought the car (3 month ago). Now, when I try to start the car, it tries to start but nothing happens further. What could be the reason of this problem? I hope that I have not damaged my engine. And, what can i do myself to fix my car?

Do you have coolant or is there any coolant leaks? Check the oil fill cap and see if it is cream in color or check the oil and see if its creamy in color, I am saying this becuase you over heated, (the temperaure went up). Check for coolant leak and make sure the radiator is filled, If you want to fix the vehicle yourself find the reason for the coolant loss. and go from there.
