I have P0740 and P0740 codes on my 2000 Volkswagen Jetta, should do the fluid first?

P0730 Incorrect gear ratio

P0740 Torque convertor clutch circuit open

The first thing to do with these 2 codes is check fluid level,Both these codes can be caused by low fluid level, and a faulty VSS (vehicle speed sensor),If the fluid level is good, and the VSS check out good, the problem is mechanical with the transmission
