Code comes up and shifting has been difficult. It slips out of gear and once I shut it off and start it back up, it resets and is absolutely fine until it happens again. It happens about once a week.

Hi there,

The transmission speed sensor is the likely cause and will need to be replaced.

Trouble Code Conditions:
Engine started, vehicle driven with the vehicle speed sensor indicating more than 1 mph, and the PCM detected the TSS signals were erratic, or that they were missing for a period of time.

Possible Causes:

  • * TSS signal circuit is open

  • * TSS signal is shorted to chassis ground

  • * TSS signal is shorted to sensor ground

  • * TSS assembly is damaged or it has failed

  • * PCM has failed
