P0491 FORD -

Question

replaced secondary air pump on 2006 ford fusion. check engine light stayed off for about 2 days and came back on. brought back to shop - code 491 on. he doesn't know what's wrong after spending over $230 for the pump and paying for labor. now says take it to a dealer. may be under warranty. over 140,000 miles on it so doubtful. any ideas?

P0491 Secondary air flow insufficient

Its not the secondary airpump that goes bad its the secondary air pump relay,the relay has a tendency to short out,just replace the relay, and you are good to go.The location is in the engine fuse juction box, It is listed as secondary air.When you replace it Make it a hobby
