I have a 2001 Toyota Camry Solara V6 SLE with 114,000 mi. The check engine light came on today. A mechanic ran a diagnostic it came back with code P0770. What is needed to resolve this problem?
P0770 Shift solenoid E malfunction (shift solenoid valve SI)
This solenoid the SL controls the torque convertor clutch solenoid. As a rule of thumb make sure the brake light are working properly, (the off signal comes from the brake switch) The fix is to remove the transmission pan and remove the SL valve apply and 70 psi of air ,and that the solenoid does not leak air, Then apply battery voltage valve should open and you should be able to pass air through this valve, If it fails this test replace the SL valve,if it passes replace TCC.
