ECU -codes cannot be accessed with a scanner. I had purchased a code reader and it could not find my car or VIN2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport XLS 3..0L V6 SOHC 24 V 4wd AutoVin starts with JA4MT3 I have had no headlamps or fog lamps switches now the relay is blown after tracing it to waht was thought the column switch at a loss. so wanted to use the code scanner to see if it could be something I was not thinking of looking for.I found the Mitbushi site that wants you to pay for help with car code readers for OBDI IAny ideas?

2001 Mitshubishi Montero the lighting system is still a analog system, In other word even if you hook the scanner up to the system it wont tell you anything about the headlamp and fog lamp.If the fog lights cannot be turned on the fuse, the fog light relay,or the fog light switch may be faulty.For the Fog lamp/headlamp disconnect the harness at the column switch (The joint connector) and start testing from there ,if the relay stops blowing you found the fault
