P0011 - what is the first thing that needs to be done to fix problem

the check engine light came on about 2 months ago and then went back off. that happen a few times now the light stays on been on 2 weeks same code all the time p0011. i have replaced plugs and oil. what should my next step be? cange camshaft sensors (the whole distributor is what i was told) or adjust timing?

This code is for the variable intake timing control solenoid. This is used to advance the timing in certain situations. The cam sensors do read the advance on the cam, but if the solenoid isn't working then there is no advance happening. Since the cam sensors didn't resolve the issue, you either have a mechanical issue or the solenoid is not working.
