P1549 FORD -

How do fix P1549 error code for 99 ford expedition. 4.6 engine. Any suggestion. I was told that it maybe the psp sensor but I never heard of this before. The gears are starting to slip when it gets between 2nd and 3rd.

P1549 On the Ford Expedition is intake manifold tunning. or IMT, Ford has 2 different code reading capability one is key on engine off,(KOEO) ,The other is Key on engine runing, when you run this test it tell you step on the brake, cycle over drive switch (if equipt) turn steering wheel. If you dont turn the steering wheel you get code PSP power steering out of range. P1549 is related to PSP (power steering switch) it either intermittent or faulty,when you turn the steering wheel the engine detect a load and increase the RPM.This has nothing to do with a slip on 2nd and 3rd, P1549 coded up due to the fact that OBD codes are to control emission no greater than 1.5 emission standard, Unless your transmission is going to affect the catalytic or emissions it wont code up,you will need PID data to diagnose the transmission concern

ok. so you are saying the problem is my power steering switch. can that be replaced or do i have to get a new power steering pump.
