My Dodge Durango made a loud knocking sound and just cut off and now won't start. Had it towed to a Mechanic and was told it was the Cam-Shaft Sensor . Then the Crank-Shaft sensor, but it still wouldn't start. Now the Mechanic is telling me it's the timing chain which will cost $1,200,but is recommending that I replace the Engine which will be $5,000 for a new one does this sound right?? Anyone who can help !!!

Vehicle: 2001,Dodge,Durango 4.7 Liter

It is the engine, what it is is the design of the timing chain,You mainly lost oil pressure, If you put a timing chain on it you will be facing more problem, shop around for a used engine yourself and get qoutes at other places.
