P1498 DODGE - voltge guage fluctuated before it died can p1498 effect headlight, radio, ingition, truck won't jump off

Question

For a couple of days the voltage guage would fluctuate a little. It never interfered with the running of the vehicle just the radio, headlights, a/c, just about anything that used electricity. started fine everyday even in the rain and cold, until i was driving and and watched the volts go to less than 8 on the guage then it died. had the battery and alternator checked out and both were fine.
